“When I travel slowly, I become more attuned to subtle detail, the dance of a curtain, the way light filters through a café window, a quiet exchange between locals.”

Madonna by _ is a curated series from visual storytellers who capture Casa Cook and Madonna di Campiglio through their own lens. Each edition brings a new perspective, a new season and a new style, revealing the many layers of life in the Dolomites. Here, you can experience the destination through their stories.

Meet our First Featured Photographer – Roberta

Meet Roberta Mazzone, an Italian photographer with an architectural eye and a nomadic spirit. Born in Sicily and trained as an architect, her work blends form, light and lived-in detail.

Roberta is drawn to atmosphere over spectacle, capturing spaces as they feel rather than how they appear. Her lens brings a sense of stillness, warmth and intimacy to the mountains.

Early Winter at Casa Cook Madonna

Roberta visited in early winter, when the air was crisp and the first snow started to settle on the rooftops while the village glowed softly against the mountains. It’s a tranquil moment in the season – quiet trails, slow mornings and light that feels almost cinematic.

Moments That Stayed With Her

Favourite moment: The ascent to Grosté: the silence, breathtaking views, and crisp mountain air, and a slow coffee at Bar Suisse, observing the rhythm of the town like a local.

Found inspiration in: The contrast between warm interiors and snowy landscapes.

A detail she loved: The intimate calm created by the hotel’s design, materials and flowing spaces, and how nature is always just a short walk from the village centre.

Move Slowly Through the World

Roberta spent her days wandering the town centre, pausing for coffee at Bar Suisse, tasting chocolate at Ciocomiti and following forest paths toward Lake Nambino slopes.

With the cable car just minutes from the hotel, she reached Grostè – drawn by the silence, crisp air and wide mountain views. Her work captures the poetry of the in-between, those fleeting details that linger long after the shutter clicks.

Roberta’s tips:

  • Walk slowly, the beauty is in the details.
  • Visit Lake Nambino early or later in the day for a quieter, more magical atmosphere.
  • Stop for coffee at Bar Suisse and chocolate at Ciocomiti. And don’t miss dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
  • Make time to simply relax and enjoy the hotel, it’s part of the experience.
