Some places have a story long before a hotel becomes part of it. On the shores of Ouranoupoli, where the Aegean meets the Athos peninsula, mythology, history, and centuries of tradition have shaped a place unlike any other. In Greek mythology, Mount Olympus was home to the gods, a world of pleasure, celebration and life. Mount Athos, by contrast, has been a place of spirituality and contemplation for centuries. Between these two worlds lies Ouranoupoli, the “City of Heaven“.

Opening in May 2027, Casa Cook Athos brings its own spirit of hospitality to this remarkable setting. A place to embrace the pleasures of life, find moments of stillness and experience the beauty of coming together. Casa Cook Athos welcomes guests aged 12 and over. Bookings for our first season will open shortly, inviting you to be among the first to experience the slow rhythm of the peninsula in May 2027.

CONCEPT & DESIGN

A MODERNIST LANDMARK

Designed by Periklis Sakellarios in 1959 as part of Greece’s pioneering Xenia hotel programme, the original hotel is an important example of the country’s post-war modernist architecture. 

With its low, horizontal lines, open views towards the Aegean and architectural details inspired by the monasteries of Mount Athos, the building was designed to belong to its surroundings rather than stand apart from them. 

Today, this philosophy continues. The original architecture remains at the heart of the design, complemented by natural materials, tactile textures and an earthy palette that reflect the landscape. Rather than reinventing what was already there, Casa Cook Athos brings a new perspective to a place with a story of its own.

The beach is right on the doorstep and the Aegean stretches out ahead. Life moves between the social and the slow: mornings in the sea, afternoons by the pool, the spa and gym for a reset. Spend the day in good company or savour some time alone. Casa Cook Athos makes room for both.
